Katie Price-Peter Andre's Kids Unaware of Split: Andre Reveals Children have been Protected from the News
With the media storm surrounding the end of Katie Price
(aka Jordan) and Peter Andre’s fairytale marriage, there must be hardly a
person left on the planet who is unaware of the split.
But in an exclusive interview with the News of the World today, Peter Andre revealed that the couple’s three children Harvey, 7 (whose biological father is Price’s ex partner footballer Dwight Yorke) Junior, 4, and Princess, 2 are blissfully unaware of their parents' parting.
Kids Protected from Katie and Peter Split
The 36-year-old Mysterious Girl singer, who met glamour
girl Price on TV reality show I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here in 2004, told
the newspaper: “The kids don't actually know we've split up. When I leave them
with Katie, I just say that Daddy has to go to work so I can buy them toys. And
when Katie hands them over to me, I just tell them Mummy is working.”
Peter Andre Cries Himself to Sleep
The star, whose “doting dad” parenting style endeared him
to viewers of the popular fly-on-the-wall TV Show, Katie and Peter: The Next
Chapter, added that he realised the children would have to be told but felt he
wanted to “protect” them for as long as possible.
Andre seems keen to protect his children’s innocence, likening the looming revelation to having to explain that there is no Santa Claus. The singer, whose upcoming new album was recorded during the couple’s stay in LA at the beginning of this year, said the knowledge that his children would learn of the split eventually caused him to cry himself to sleep at night.
Katie and Peter put their Children First
The children’s time has been split between both parents
since Peter left the family home in Sussex on May 15th. Junior and Princess
accompanied their mother on a beach holiday to their parents’ honeymoon spot in
the Maldives and the children also joined their father at his family’s home on
the island of Cyprus.
Price and Andre are currently working out access and custody details privately, but Peter is adamant that the children should be protected from their parents’ imminent divorce.
He revealed that he has continued his bedtime tradition of telling them ‘you know Mummy loves you, you know Daddy loves you’ each night before they go to sleep, and refuses to allow his own personal frustrations with his estranged wife or the media coverage to filter through to his kids.
“Whatever my personal feelings are, I won't let that affect my kids,” he told the New of The World.
